Prof. Christian B. Laursen

Christian is a Clinical Professor, Senior Consultant and Head of Research at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark. He is a clinical and research enthusiast in the field of thoracic ultrasound, ranging from prehospital focused lung ultrasound assessment to advanced thoracic ultrasound in a hospital setting. This is also reflected in his involvement in numerous peer-reviewed articles, in the field of lung ultrasound ranging from systematic reviews, pilot studies assessing novel uses of lung ultrasound, and several randomized clinical trials. Additionally, he has been involved in several research projects aiming to develop educational tools which can support an evidence based lung ultrasound training program and certification.

He has been appointed chair of the European Respiratory Society’s (ERS) ultrasound group, and has been involved in the ERS’ statement on thoracic ultrasound and ERS’ dedicated monograph on thoracic ultrasound. Christian has also been involved in the development of ERS’ certified thoracic ultrasound training program and is part of the training programs faculty.
