Dr. Jonny Wilkinson

Jonny is an Intensive Care and Anesthesia Specialist Consultant at Northampton General Hospital. Here he is involved in leading the intensive Care Unit, providing Consultant led safe anesthesia to elective and trauma patients and attending cardiac arrests, trauma calls and ward based peri-arrest situations.

He is a specialist in regional anesthesia, much of which I provide under ultrasound guidance. Other specialist areas are emergency and vascular anaesthesia, as well as general and trauma orthopaedic work. Jonny is an avid user of point of care ultrasound and is heavily involved in point of care ultrasound trainings.

His work within point of care ultrasound has expanded massively over the last few years. Jonny is proficient in echocardiography, as well as in other general ultrasound fields (abdominal, DVT, Renal, lung airway and gastric). He administer a large group of skilled ultrasound enthusiasts from all over the world
One of his core areas within POCUS Iies within the assessment of critically unwell patients outside of the ICU. He is a qualified focused intensive care echocardiography mentor, as well as a core ultrasound in critical care supervisor. This allows him to rapidly scan and assess critically unwell / trauma patients and institute lifesaving therapies where appropriate.
