In this podcast, Professor Lene Terslev, a PhD Consultant in Rheumatology and Heath of Ultrasound Division in Glostrup Hospital, Denmark, discusses how medical professionals can get the best from an ultrasound course. With ultrasound, several different topics need to be covered for a practitioner to be able to understand how to optimize the settings on the ultrasound system.
In this podcast, Professor Terslev focuses on Doppler Ultrasound. In Copenhagen Professor Terslev delivers two courses on Doppler Ultrasound that are designed to help participants gain hands-on experience in how to optimize the setting for different machines. Within these courses, participants will work in small groups rotating between different models, learning how to adjust many ultrasound related settings such as gain, PRF and many others. At the end of the course, the participants will compare notes and discuss the advantages of each model: this allows the members to gain information they might not have thought of.
Whilst the Doppler course is extremely useful, most ultrasound courses don't have enough time to go into as much detail or allow for a hands-on and comparative practice.
