In this video Mark Maybury, Research Physiotherapist Sonographer, takes us through his method for locating the lateral elbow using ultrasound.
Mark explains that some people have difficulty finding the common extensor origin and also the joint line. He explains that with both the medial and the lateral elbow he likes to start fairly high up the midshaft of the humerus.
Using ultrasound to demonstrate, Mark points out the lateral epicondylar ridge. As he slides the probe down you can see the ridge becomes very pointed and as he continues to slide the probe down it becomes less pointed and until you reach the end.
