Learn why and how to perform the thoracic erector spinae plane block

Ultrasound guided ESP Block with Continuous Catheter

Ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is an interfascial plane block for the treatment of back pain. Although first described for use in chronic pain, it has later been used as a postoperative analgesia method in many surgical procedures. It has now emerged as an effective and safe analgesic technique for patients.
This step by step video demonstration performed by Dr. Olivier Choquet, from the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Lapeyronie University Hospital, details how best to perform an Erector Spinae Plane Block. He also describes how this benefits patients who have such things as acute back pain, and where local anesthetic is injected in the thoracolumbar fascial plane.
