Ultrasound-guided sciatic nerve block by popliteal approach is an anesthetic method for hallux valgus correction surgery. To avoid rebound pain upon cessation of popliteal block performed with lidocaine or mepivacaine, distal analgesic blocks using long acting local anesthetics may be additionally performed.
